Mondays are hard. Some are harder than others. Especially in the summer, when the heat turns its knob up.
It's easy to stop doing something you were so determined to do. Yesterday. But today is another day. With whole new excuses, I mean circumstances.
But don't fall into the trap of asking yourself why you should keep going. It kind of implies that you should stop, doesn't it? It just keeps the candy of relief behind the corner.
Instead, ask yourself why you should quit. Now you are in the spotlight. Now you have to openly admit that you feel lazy. Now you have to confront that monster. The other you.
Why should you quit? If something is not working for you, you must make your best effort for 100 days. Then you have two options:
- reevaluate your stances and adjust your direction;
- examine your failure and act accordingly - change goal, direction, speed, or timeframe.
Some goals are attainable quick, some in a reasonable time, some in years. You have to adjust your timeframe and stick with it.
Why would you quit college after 3 years and a half? Only one semester missing? Well, there might be a good reason. But due to sunk costs, it might as well be a very good one.
Why would you bail on the last mile or kilometer of a marathon? Well, you might have broken something. But if not, you might as well push through.
Stop Asking yourself why you should keep going. Ask yourself what would be a good enough reason to stop. A reason that you could live with. And not be ashamed to tell your spouse, kids, grandkids, and neighbors. But most importantly, do not be embarrassed to say to yourself.
Why would you quit? There is no good reason to.
