Scientists have published a study. Nothing new there. But there is.
Semaglutide, the drug that helped diabetes but was a fad for losing weight, has a new purpose.
Apparently, it helps your own body kill off cancer cells.
The effects were a bit unclear before because patients with diabetes had a high risk of getting some kind of cancer.
But now, it seems, it was a double cure for them. Lowering the risk of diabetes and cancer.
So, in an Irony of fate, new demand has just surged. Not just for losing weight (getting the feeling of not-hungry faster), but also in the range of lowering cancer risk.
Don't rush to the pharmacy yet, because the smart folks need to double-check everything. But if it's true, this could be an interesting twist of faith.
Not only will it help you be less fat, but it will also help you stay less cancer-prone.
And it will do all that by helping your body do the hard lifting; it will just help out. Like a patch of sorts.
