Everything changes, but in a way, it stays the same. We see friends, politicians, and movie stars come and go, but the red thread remains.
We are changing all the time too. Not always for the best, but we do. Change, that is. If we work really hard, we can change for the better.
If we don't... You know...
As you may have noticed (of course you have, you are not blind), this newsletter was and is changing a bit.
Because, like everything worthwhile, we must adapt or die off as an unnecessary byproduct of evolution. A dead branch of a young tree. The tree must grow, but some branches are doomed to die off for the "greater good."
Some decisions about change can be pretty hard. Even heartbreaking. Involving courts, lawyers, litigations, etc.
Some involve little more than a gentle breeze.
I had a business partner once. He was always asking me why I always google everything. It's just what I did. I stopped for a while. The worst time of my life. I still regret it :)
I just like researching and evolving. Some don't; I get it.
Change is also hard. You have to leave something behind. Not at least your beliefs that you were right. That you knew.
But you didn't. Nobody does. We were just a little more in denial before.
So embrace the change. Before it embraces you. Because you don't want to be that guy that picks up pennies of news before the bulldozer of change runs them over.
Be the first, not the last standing, a reminder of an old past, a relic per se.
To change, to adapt, we must jump into the unknown. To be vulnerable. To be ready to be hurt. To be willing to bleed. To be prepared to be ridiculed. And to be ready to conquer the challenges that the unknown presents.
But being there makes us strong. Because the little fights leave scars but also thicken our skin and heighten our skills. We adapt to the change and become more ready.
If you stay still, you become soft. Cozy of your own little pretend happy place of the present. Instead of seeing the future threat (or opportunity or both in the same shape) gazing. Future rolling towards you with unstoppable force.
Be ready for the change; perhaps one day, you will be the change society needs and wants but not always embraces.
